Overview
Most of our whitetail hunting is done along the Yellowstone River. The deer leave their bedding areas in the evening to feed on the cropland and return at dawn. We hunt them from ladder stands and ground blinds set up on trails to and from these feeding areas. Deer drives and still hunting can also be very effective at times. You can expect to see anywhere from ten to fifty deer a day and have opportunity at bucks ranging somewhere between 110 and 170+ B&C.
Mule deer hunting is our specialty. If the thought of hunting thousands of acres without bumping into another hunter appeals to you, this might just be your kind of hunt. With the Ponderosa Pine, Ash, and Cottonwood trees, this is one of the nicest spots in Eastern Montana. The mule deer spend most of their time in timber patches and the brushy draws that are scattered abundantly throughout the area. Walking ridges, sitting, and still hunting can be effective, but the best way is to use a vehicle to cover as much country as possible in the mornings and evenings. Using this strategy, youre very likely to find mule deer feeding on the edges. The spot and stalk method with a lot of glassing is usually the key here. If you enjoy seeing a lot of country but walking from daylight until dark isnt ideal to you, you will like this hunt. Along with a multitude of other wildlife you can also expect to see 50 to 100 deer every day. Our mule deer hunts have a very high success rate on quality bucks with 8 to 14 points and ranging from twenty to thirty inches wide
