We offer a 5 day hunt with one guide per client. On our ranch you will be pleased to see large quantities and quality of Mule Deer. Clients average 100% harvest success with some customers passing up bucks up to 28", while looking for that buck of a lifetime!!! We generally take bucks averaging 24 to the 30 inches in width. In any given 5 day period we figure that a person may view as many as 50 different bucks, pretty easy.

The fun and experienced guides of Boulder Mountain Adventures have been hunting these areas for over 30 years and guiding professionally for the past 15 years. Being year round residents and on the mountain almost everyday gives us a great advantage of knowing where these trophy animals are at all times and where they go when they are not where they are supposed to be. Our scouting begins in the spring and summer months while guiding fly fishing and fly fishing pack trips. The key factors to a successful hunt are being able to locate the game, knowing the nature of the species you are pursuing and having the ability to field score the animal prior the kill. We specialize in 100% guaranteed elk hunts. We offer 10,000 acres of high fence hunting and 50,000 acres of private free range hunting in Utah and Idaho. Mule deer, Shiras moose, buffalo and cougar hunts are also available. We offer 100,00 acres of high fence hunting at our two Mexico locations. In Mexico, we offer hunts for Desert Bighorn Sheep, Mule Deer, Aoudad, Whitetail Deer and several exotic species. Hunting trips are for five days with three days in the field. We typically have six to seven hunters at a lodge at one time. Each hunter is paired with an experienced guide. We may hunt with horses, ATVs, 4-wheel drive vehicles and on foot depending on the areas you want to access and your physical condition.

We typically hunt mule deer in as many states a year as we have time to, for the simple reason that you have to hunt harder than you did 20-30 years ago to take a great buck. Utah has some incredible mule deer genetics and today has a few areas that produce the caliber of deer we love to hunt, either for ourselves or with others that obtain a tag.

The Mule Deer in Utah are doing well! From the Henry Mtns to the general draw units Utah is producing multiple 200+ Inch deer each year. If you draw a permit or are interested in purchasing one from a live auction then give us a call and see if we can assist you in achieving your goals. In order to have the best chance at a Trophy Buck will largely depend on what area you get a tag for. Any unit can produce a giant buck but you will have a much better chance at harvesting one on the Premium Units. We hunt most units located in Southern Utah! Due to mild winter conditions and Utah's wildlife management, the mule deer herd is better than it has been in several years. There are several areas producing trophy size deer. Most of these areas are limited entry draw. These areas are producing some deer over 30 inches in width, but on average 24 to 26 inch deer. If you are successful in obtaining one of these permits, you won't be disappointed. Deadline for the draw is the end of January.

Utah has always been known as a state that produces world-class Mule Deer bucks. Literally every area of the state has the potential to produce record-class bucks. There are many limited-entry units and Cooperative Wildlife Management Units capable of producing bucks of a lifetime. A Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is a large tract of private property that has been issued its own tags by the State of Utah and has given hunters the privilege to hunt deer with a rifle from the first of September into November. Utah may be the only state in the U.S. to allow rifle elk hunting during the rut. Because of their habits and the terrain they live in, harvesting a mature, trophy Mule Deer buck is a great accomplishment.

Utah's mule deer have really made a comeback. With better management, range improvement and predator control, 200 inch deer are being harvested every year. With public land mule deer units like the Famous Henry Mountains and Paunsaugunt it is easy to understand why Utah fascinates trophy mule deer hunters across the globe. The best units are on a public drawing and difficult to get. We can also arrange to purchase landowner tags and conservation tags on these better units.

We all know that trophy mule deer are one of the most sought after big game animals in the western U.S.A. We know how difficult it is to hunt these Animals. Location, Knowledge, Patience, Skill and Commitment are needed to be successful in harvesting a trophy mule deer.

We also offer Rocky Mountain Mule Deer hunts as well. Some of our elk hunters choose to piggyback a deer hunt along with their elk hunt. This can be done with pre-planning if a deer hunt is applied for a draw in conjunction with their limited entry elk hunt. We want to be up-front and inform you that the areas for trophy elk are very limited in trophy deer, though there are many deer around. Mule deer hunts can be booked archery, rifle and muzzleloader. Our recommendation is to plan a deer hunt in conjunction with, or as a preparatory hunt to your Trophy Elk.

Royal elk, monster mule deer, pheasant, dove, sage hen, grouse, quail -- even duck and geese -- all abound around Strawberry, and staying with us in luxury instead of freezing in a tent -- what more could you ask? Our lodging is everything you could ask for right here in the middle of the action.

Mule deer hunting is on a draw basis only. Applications must be made in January. General tags are quite difficult to draw; limited entry tags are very difficult to draw. Sunrise prefers to guide hunters in the limited entry hunts, to increase success of taking a large buck. The seasons are generally in August-September for archery, and October-November for any weapon hunts. Please call for more information.

The area we hunt is between 7,500 and 9,000 feet in elevation, therefore, it is physically demanding and requires the hunter to be in fairly good physical shape. The success ratio for hunting from a wilderness pack-in camp varies each year. Weather, your hunting skills and plain old luck all play a part. The kill percentages each year consistently run between 65-75% on elk and 100% on moose. The success ratio is between 80-90% on elk; success meaning game that is either killed, missed, wounded or turned down. Elk area 71 consistently produces the best bull elk in Wyoming.
